Arts Administrator, Educator, Book Artist

About

I care about art, learning, making things, and fostering genuine connections between people.

Caroline Wood (she/her) is an arts administrator, educator, and artist. She currently lives in Brooklyn, NY and works in Continuing Education for adult learners. Caroline is passionate about advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights, creating community-oriented and inclusive programming that enables all individuals to thrive, fighting for safe streets and de-centering cars from our communities, and expanding access to arts education. Outside of work, Caroline can be found on a bike or in a park, often at the same time.

Caroline has abundant experience in museum education, visual art, and nonprofit administration. Previously, she has worked in Education and Visitor Engagement at Center for Book Arts, International Center of Photography, MoMA PS1, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Caroline holds an MFA (Photography) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2019) and a BA in History and Studio Art from St. Olaf College (2014).

In her creative practice, Caroline creates participatory and interpretive experiences that interrogate archival documents and historical texts, from the Internet Archive’s auto-transcriptions of newspaper articles to historical walking tours of places that no longer exist. Her current project focuses on issues of urban development, transportation and pedestrian safety in New York from the 1920s to today. Caroline is a dedicated knitter and crafter who believes in the power of handmade objects to foster connection and community.
